About Old West Side Fitness Studio

Marcus Webb opened Old West Side Fitness Studio in 2021 with a specific frustration in mind: the impersonal, intimidating experience at large commercial gyms that leaves most people feeling lost before they’ve even started. His answer was a smaller, coach-led studio focused on genuine community and measurable results.

Located in Ann Arbor’s Old West Side neighborhood, the studio operates on a small-group training model. Instead of crowded floor space and rows of machines, members work with coaches in groups of eight or fewer — enough accountability to push harder, small enough that nobody gets left behind.

What Makes Old West Side Fitness Studio Special

Marcus comes from a background in strength and conditioning, having trained college athletes for several years before making the pivot to community fitness. He brings that same methodology — intentional programming, movement quality over quantity, real progress tracking — to everyday people who just want to feel stronger and healthier.

“Most gyms sell memberships they hope you don’t use,” Marcus says. “We need you to actually show up. Our whole model depends on your results. If you’re not getting better, we’re not doing our job.”

The studio runs six-week programming cycles with clearly defined goals, so members always know what they’re working toward and can see their progress objectively.
